Welcome to The Fresh Start Project!
Our purpose is to support individuals and families transitioning from shelters to homes by providing basic household and personal items, helping them feel welcomed and settled in their new community.
What We Do
Approximately twice a month, we help individuals or families move from shelters to their own homes via a Case/Social Worker. With limited resources, this can be challenging. Clients select needed items from our master list to ease their transition and reduce financial strain. We share their wish lists on our private Facebook group and members sign up to donate gently used items. Our goal is to collect and pack all items within 5 days, typically achieving a 72-hour turnaround, thanks to our dedicated volunteers.
How to Get Involved
There are multiple ways to get involved in The Fresh Start Project:
Individual item donations (we accept new and gently used)
Client item sorting, inventory, packing, and delivery
Financial donations and corporate sponsorship
Leading an Incremental Program (i.e. Mother’s Day)
