D and her two children, 4 and 5 years old fled life-threatening abuse. They left with nothing but some clothes. After living at the shelter, they have secured housing and are looking forward to starting a new life there together, free from violence. They are hoping that with the help of the Fresh Start Project, they will be able to make this house into a home where they are safe. They are very thankful for any support they can receive.

Our Second Family

J is a deaf 25 year old woman who was accepted for a room in a house for rent.  She was not born deaf.  At the age of 5 she contracted meningitis and due to subpar medical conditions in her home country, she lost her hearing.  She was sponsored to come to Canada by her father a few years ago and lived with him and her brother, however, they both started to abuse her. She escaped and was taken in at Embrave (formerly Interim Place).  Our incredible collection of items has helped her get set up in her new place and save money for other needs.

I'm sending biggest virtual huge and sending the biggest thank you on behalf of my son. I haven't seen him smile like this in a long time. His had a very difficult year, with our situation and now dealing with medical obstacles. Which his used too, because his be in and out of sick kids since 3 weeks old. His smile, thanks to you, made our year. This morning he was organizing his dresser, putting outfits together. 

This was a huge help. Especially because we are starting from ground Zero. Not only in our lives, with a home but also with our wardrobe.

Our Fourth Family

K was living with her daughter until her daughter's new partner physically and emotionally abused her, kicked her out of her own home and left her homeless.  She has been living in the shelter and has now secured a home for herself.  This is the fantastic collection of items & goodies for K that will make this woman's heart full In the collection of pictures you will see:
